The Drawing and Painting Course is ideal for those who wish to study the basic techniques of both disciplines. The focus is on how drawing and painting work together in parallel in the creation of a work of art. Our program offers students a comprehensive overview: it begins with drawing and concludes with painting.
During the drawing lessons, students practice using charcoal and pencil, drawing from plaster casts and reference images. The course provides an in-depth review of the following topics:
Measuring proportions to draw accurately from a variety of subjects, such as still life and portraits.
Shading techniques to create form, understanding perspective, and drawing architectural elements.
During the painting lessons, students paint from still life setups and reference images. The lessons introduce the following topics:
Color and tonal value relationships, with practice in color mixing.
A review of painting techniques such as glazing, alla prima, and color blocking.
Drawing materials are included in the course price. Painting materials are at the student’s expense. The course is open to everyone, regardless of level.
Classes take place from Monday to Friday. Semi-intensive courses run from 9:00am to 1:00pm. Intensive courses run from 10:00am to 1:00pm and from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.
